Short Films:
Wallace and gromit the wrong trousers is experiment in many ways, the main way it is experimental is having only one characters speak, this make sense as animals cannot speak, humans in the film are show to be stupid but smart at the same time whilst animals are shown to be the smart ones. this film has lots of oxymoron's in it as the main character Wallace is an inverter but someone who is very stupid, this shows that the film doesn't follow stereotypes. this is also shown with gromit as stereotypes of dogs are shown not to be as smart as humans, and gromit in the show is shown as the hero as he is smart and quick witted. Wallace and gromit has a playful atmosphere although it has some deep tones with the playful music over someone trying to get killed with a penguin with a gun it is also very weird to see a crime show animated as the genre of Wallace and gromit is crime and animation i think they execute it well as it mixes in with the stupid comedy. the scenes of conflict as suspenseful but are also comedic the charterers font really have any character development as they'll just go back to doing stupid stuff. however there is no mystery in Wallace and gromit as the viewers know before the characters what is going on and who is the main villain. in wasp they director use a new form of lighting as it being cool, cool lighting is mostly used in horror, as the film is a drama based it experiments with the genre it also experiments with the themes as it is unusual to have a film based on acting like the children arnt her, it shows the main character to be selfish and only wants what she wants. the place of location of it being filmed is experimental as well as they use England when most films are filmed in america as it creates a wider audience. the film also uses a lot of close ups on the characters faces to show their emotions this fits in with the drama genre. it also stands out as there is a minimalist style with no non-diegetic music being present in the entire movie and the camera moving to handheld adds authenticity to the movie and plot. La Jetee sticks to the genre of the film and doesn't experiment with the genre, however the film was filmed in 1962 and is science fiction this would be very hard at these times as production wouldn't be able to do special effects so all effects were practical this shows the creativity and shows how it can be very experimental. the film uses war torn France to create an atmosphere this is unusual as science fiction doesn't usually worry about atmosphere this again shows how the film is creative and expands. The narrative structure uses conventions such as how the narrative comes into full circle, but their resolution is not new, but an ending as the film begins with an underground prisoner experimented on as the scientists investigate time travel to see if they can fix the nuclear war that occurred in a totally degraded natural life and our main character known as the prisoner who travels back In time, and for the future. However, we can see some of Todorov's hypothesis as the disruption of the plot may come from the main character finding out that he is going to be executed by his prisoners, and the outcome is that he escapes into the past and that he is murdered by a prisoner who pursued him and kills him
