captain fantastic dinner scene analysis:

the dinner table scene is the most awkward scene throughout the movie. we have two polar opposite families together and there are a lot of silent scenes that makes it more awkward. the camera is hand held in most of the shots, this works as when characters stumble and are talking very awkwardly, the camera is the other family inner voice as they do not want to be in that situation. the use of camera angles are wide shots, this shows the two family's at the dinner tables and shows how different their life styles are. there is also a lot of close us and focuses on when camera are speaking, the close ups show the characters emotions and how they interpreter what is being saying within the dialogue, the lighting on the left is more bright and symbolises that the family is more functioning in society and are more happy minded. whilst the lighting on the left is more dark, this implies that their family is more dark and scarier this also shows their emotions to the situation as they have a blank and dark emotional to their mothers death. the use of the colouring in this scene works well as as the bright vibrant colouring in this shot works as it shows how their family are is more happy and light heart showing what kind of people they are with the colouring of the house. there is a lot of invisible editing in this scene, there is also a lot of quick cuts. the quick cuts works because as the scene goes on the tension builds as it gets more awkward. the cuts arnt noticeable as we are focused on whats being said and the characters expressions. the first scene starts off with us seeing  the two families, the shot then cuts to one of the disobedient children, this is different as one of bens children would never be rude or disobey him showing how Ben is still traditional and puts his traditional rules onto his family. the shots are sequenced to show the two families this is used to show how the families are different and how their bring ups are different, ben is a more traditional family man whom cares a lot about his family whilst the other family is light heart and lets their children get away with a lot, showing the two families it also shows their life styles as bens family are smart in education while but not smart about society whilst the other family is the complete opposite. the key props in this scene are the chicken, wine and phone. the reason the wine is a main prop as it brings up a conversation and shows how their life styles are different, ben thinks it ok to let all of his children drink wine as it is traditional in France showing that ben is a traditional parenting and cultural parenting, whilst the other family believe its wrong for ben to give his children wine this comes back to how the children are raised how the parenting is different. the other key prop is the chicken, the children brings up a awkward situation when a child asks how the chicken was killed the mother is started and shocked by what the child says as this is something that a freak or an adult would say this agsin shows how the children were raised in a weird way where they have to hunt for their food whilst the other family eats supermarket food showing how ben is more traditional in his up upbringings. the final key prop is the phone again showing how the families were brought up different as bens family have never seen this device as they live an armish life style showing how ben has a traditional upbringing dor his children and keeps them away from them types pf devices whilst the other family does not care as they let their children have more freedom. the setting that we are shown is a nice white suburban neighbourhood When we are showing this house it was different from
the settings that we are previously seen and Ben's previous housing As it isn't a society and is not hidden away in the forest This shows the different upbringings of the children as the two children are brought up in a nice white suburban town was Ben's children are brought up in a forest showing her their life prospective and a life skills would be different The main scene that we are shown is a dinner table with nice clean white lighting showing of the family lives We can see the family is living comfortably and has a lot of money as the housing and the prophets in their house is very expensive and nice This is different from Ben's life as he has to steal food and is very short on money
is Ben is a traditional father and his fatherly figure.The clothes worn by the characters of different was Ben with hipster clothing the other family was Nice and tradional clothing Which shows a different upbringings and a different lifestyles are living because the incomes of different so their clothings would be different their clothes at bankers have a more homemade and more durable Whilst the other family has more expensive clothing and more fashionable clothing that will go over train more quicker and can be more closely over in the long run as they care about appearances. whilst bens family does not care as they are hidden away from society. There is no sound effects in the scene there is also no music in the scene this help builds the awkwardness of the scene as it gets more awkward. As a quiet scenes film awkward as not having any music got any sound effects breaks creates tension the spoken dialogue in the scene is very awkward as you can see clearly see at the different upbringing of the two children Is there two children are not allowed to swear showing their family is more respectable and care about what they look like in public was Ben's family can say whatever they want as Ben does not care what they say Showing her Ben is more traditional as he really cares about what they talk about The dialogue also shows the intellectual names of the two families as Ben's family is more intellectual as I said more spoken well in good education was the other family is quick and easy short answers somewhat of a person with not a lot of literature Showing at Benny's more traditional as the literature he is showing his children is high class whilst the other literature that the children has been is simple and somewhat simple talk. The body language of the two families different as Ben's body language is more relaxed and calm or the other family is more formal and punctual Which is a Benz family does not have proper table skills What's the other family do showing that they are more educated in this department as Ben's family usually does not eat this way as been family it's like animals as they have to hunt and kill their prey. Sorry is new shop that they do not know how to communicate well in this environment.It is embarrassing for the Other film to watch as I feel embarrassed by Ben's family because it is so informal and rude. This is strange as being as usual traditional person and traditional eating would not be done this way The other family eat and sit more traditionally and formerly than Ben which is strange. Men's performance throughout the scene is somewhat like he doesn't care about being there and is only there to show his face, This is shown as he numerous times he trusted make arguments as he believes he is the better person in this situation when in fact he is not In the dinner table scene Ben comes across a very childish as his gesture and tone shows this.
