Apocalypse Now Ending:

in the ending of apocalypse now francis coppla use film form to explore the nature of war, he does this by using music the music used in the final scene is a slow fade in to the end witch is played at the start of the film,m this implies that he has been mental unstable throughout the whole film, before the music starts we have the chilling voice over of how disappointed he is witch society this again links in with the start as he is always scared of the word that he is in. the voice over before the music lets you get inside the head of the character and show why he is the way he is, the slow fade in of the music works as it gets more crazier as it gets louder this shows what is going on in the scene and how tense and crazy that what is going to happen. the slow fade out of the music implies that the craziness is done for now and he can be at rest for now, the lightning strike signals that its over and he can return home to believe everything will go back to normal. ending the film off in silence is perfect as it is earie and shows how crazy and tense that the actions were during the film as he is being haunted by everything that has gone on. The use of the non diagetic lightning works as it shows that a big scene is coming up as evil is lurking around the corner. The lighting throughout the film is dim and dark showing little to non scenery or colour, the colours that we see are black and a torch red to show that the scene is important and that evil is larking around using the lighting to just show the villains body works as it creates more elements of mystery and builds tension and the shadows on the faces shows that the evil will soon be lifted it also shows the fear on everyone faces witch works because everybody is scared of something in this scene mostly being scared of the nature of war and how the villain has so much power over everyone. the performance that is used is great as it shows fear on everyone and uses elements of power having great evil over everything, we can feel the tension from each character and the Vietnamese tribe showing the nature of man and war as being evil. The editing is constantly jumping from scene to scene this works to make it crazy it jumps between the villagers and the protagonist, it also does this to show the nature of man and war as they are doing the same actions as the villagers are killing a cow as it is the cycle of life and man is the most powerful and our protagonist is murdering the villain it does not use invisible editing and i=s clunky and noticeable this fits in with the music and the mise en scene as the scene goes of the cuts happen quick and quicker as the music speeds up, when the music ends the cuts end too. The editing also use non diagetic music of thunder and music. The use of the camera jumper between hand held and tripod the more crazier scenes are hand held as it shows the in-tenseness of it and makes the audience feel freaked out the calmer scenes to establish the viewer with the setting. there are a lot of close up witch works with the lighing as it shows the strong emotions that the characters have as weve been waiting for this moment the whole film and the build up is so great. there is also a lot of low angle shots to show that the setting is intimidating and there is is great evil up there. there is also establishing shots for the villagers as it shows the nature of man being violent in two different ways with animals and man vs man. The costumes that are worn are little to no clothing for the protagonist and villagers this is because they want to blend in with the villagers and helps them not stand out. our village is in full dark clothes witch implies that the evil as it is dark and the power he has as he can wear full clothing. the props that are used are knifes and guns this shows the power that the people have as weapons implies fear and evil that lurks around as they do not feel safe also showing that the war is still there. They use face paints to blend in with the setting witch is a creepy temple with dark lighing and has mysterious placing as it is in the middle of a jungle.
