Family guy uses postmodernism, this is shown in the start wars episodes, Seth MacFarlane uses a parody technique. the whole episode is set in parody form, using jokes and mocking the film that it is referencing, witch is star wars. the key elements of film form are parodied in the episode making light heart of star wars which is an scifi action movies witch is highly respected , whilst family guy is a comedy tv show that isn't highly respected as star wars. the episode also uses dark ironic tones.
another show that uses postmodernism techniques is rick and Morty, rick and Morty uses lots of techniques, it uses Reflexivity, the show breaks the 4 th wall quite a lot throughout the seasons, this shows the audience that the characters are aware that they are in a tv show. rick and Morty also uses Eclecticism as it as it references both large and big cultures throughout the show. rick and Morty has its own reality, this technique used is called Hyperreality, the world has multiple universes and multiple reality's. rick and Morty has a dark ironic tone, this is another technique used, the dark humour is targeted at older audience and the jokes are funny but will be enjoyed by people who have dark humour. rick and Morty also borrows and transformation of another media texts.
finally the Simpsons uses postmodernism techniques, the Simpsons breaks the 4th wall quite a lot throughout the show, showing the characters know that they are in a tv show, this technique is called reflexivity. the Simpsons also does parody, they do this in the form of the tree house of horror and other episodes where they copy ideas off other films and tv shows, on the opening couch gag sometimes there are hints to other films and tv shows. the Simpsons also uses intertextuality the Simpsons sometimes steal ideas and transform them.
