Shrek 2: Dream Works Best Film

A lot of people enjoy this movie and they tend to like this more than the original, which is surprising as this is a sequel  witch tend to do worse. This is one of dreams works best cinematic and has left its mark on all the ages, as it got heavy and soft themes. This is almost a perfect movie as there is no such thing as a perfect movie, however this is a perfect sequel. As to make a prefect movie you need the following variables to be perfect, directing, acting cinematography, score, effects, destine, editing, writing, pacing and characters. However to make a perfect equal is a lot more achievable as you need these to make the perfect sequel, continuing the story in a new and interesting way, expanding the universe in creative ways, expanding the themes form the original and adding in new films and leaving a positive impact on the franchise. Shrek 2 gives such a perfect expansion of the original movie , the story comes back into a normal and great flowing way. The story of Shrek 2 works so well, as Fiona is a princess, and what do princess have? Parents. This raises questions like who is her kingdom, who are her parents, why did they leave her and who are her people, the movie expands on all these questions and makes complete sense. As there is a manipulative fairy god mother who wants to get her son a future bride all in exchange for the happier ever after, trying to show that her dad is trying to be a good dad but fails miserably. Shrek 2 lets you re think about the first film with all of the new revelations that they have introduced, however it still creates a fresh and great film that and is very good stand alone and follow up movie as i has great twists and turn with great layers.

both films start of the same, both starting off with a fairy tail style however, they are both told by different narrators and sets the stage very well. the narrator in the second movie is Shrek witch creates a sense of security as we are now accustom to him and know he is not the stereotypical ogre who is angry. Shrek 2 opening narration sets the scene well and echos the first story but with new details and it wastes no time in getting you amerced into the story and leaves is intrigued to learn more about it. We seen tons of new locations that feel completely different to the first film they use potions and magic to enhance the world building as they concepts weren't explored much in the first film, Shrek 2 makes it feel organic, Shrek 2 leaves a huge impact on the franchise and some would say that it is the franchise. Far Far Away is the main setting of what is to go on in the rest of the franchise, everything in the first movie is forgotten about and the twist villain is some nobody now. Shrek's 2 villain (fairy god mother) is a compelling antagonist who is implied to behind Fiona's curse and her presence is felt in the universe. Just like a good squeal the new characters are fan favourites, puss in boots, the king and queen, prince charming. The life has one of the best sound tracks i have ever heard in a movie. it accomplishes so much as the music helps set the tone and themes of what going on in each scene.

this scene uses i need a hero perfectly. in this scene the song fits the motivations of every charterer. Shrek is the literal hero who is coming to save the day Fiona knows something is up and is literally waiting for a hero to save her. this scene fits in so naturally and blends so well with the score. fairy god mother and charming think they are the heroes and prince Harold is hoping for charming to save the day so he does not get turned into a frog by fairy god mother. They use a combination of the 80s syntheses from the original  song and from the film orchestra. Shrek uses this song perfectly and this is the main reason a lot of people watch this movie. This scene is flawless and it creates a tense and comical scene is charming kisses Fiona she falls in love with him and its an instant game over and we are invested into shreks adventure to stop the kiss and all the close calls and obstetrical that are in his way. Mongo death is so emotional and comedic at the same time. Its comical as Fiona try to slow down the kiss by picking u the rose and putting in back in her mouth continuing to get charming to dance.

however this isn't the only good song in the movie, people seem to forget how important the music is in this. the use is crucial Shrek personality. once you hear smash mouth you know that this inst your normal fairy tails its an edgy take on them and doesn't care about its bad reputation and the movie starts to slow how and show the blooming relationship of Shrek and Fiona and the songs start to reflect that as it has such a strong connection to the story. Shrek improves on the music and uses less pop culture re fences.
the central theme of the story is exploring Shrek and Fiona love and i think this is a best way to start of a movie like Shrek as id describes their relationship as accidentally in love witch is true, its made to feel like it is written for this movie but it is a early 2000 song.

However there is just only one song that doesn't work, and that is liv la vida loco, witch seems to be put in because of its popularity at the time of this movie releasing. This is a movie with 10 songs that range from solid to spectacular with 9 of them serving vital story to their scenes witch enhances the viewing experience.

The humour of this movie is great the pop culture re fences are so seemingly integrated into the movie and they use far far away as being the concept of LA and has a great contrast in locations from the first movie, the jokes and delivery from the cast is great. This movie came out in 2004 and feels like it is in the modern society. the dinner scene is chaotic and wild and is one of the best scene in this movie.

The most important reason Shrek 2 is such a perfect sequel is how it carry's over the themes in the first movie and explores them in such a deep way, Shrek is a guy who is forever told that he is unworthy of being love and society hates him for being alive, however he is happy the role society has given him and believes that he doesn't need anyone, however this all changes when he meets donkey as someone who sees him for who he is and Shrek opens up to donkey about how the world sees him and it is frustrating, he then meets Fiona and realises they have a lot of interests and similarity and Shrek believes someone could emotionally love him after years of assuming he is unworthy of it, so he defies society expectations of him by confessing his love to Fiona, him and Fiona gets married and its a happy ending for someone who believed he was unworthy of love. However you will never have a happy ending as there is always more show. This is where Shrek 2 comes in Shrek has finally opened up to someone but he is not ready to face society and society is not ready to accept him, despite being in love and having someones affection  he will have to accept society still doesn't want him. Hes not the son in law Harold wants and isn't the prince the kingdom wants, he has finally got what he wanted for so long but society don't think he deserves it and his insecurity's makes him believe he doesn't deserve it and a lot of people relate to shreks deep message. even tough he has Fiona love he still believes he isn't good enough, hes not the charming prince Fiona was promised her whole life, he tries so hard to change himself in order to become the man he thinks she deserves but he realises he cant change who he is inside. buts its ok he learns to accept who he is as that's the person she fell in love with. Shrek shows the personal growth that so many of us experience we try to change our self's to be better, we want to improve that we get lost on who we was as we believe we need to be what society wants us to be and we believe no matter what were not good enough. ans Shrek shows the message of be proud of who you are, what you've become and what you've accomplished, showing you deserve to live happily ever after.

in conclusion, although this film was aimed at a younger audience it is seen through multiple ways depending on what stage of life you are on, The 3 directors Andrew Adamson, Kelly Asbury and Conrad Vernon had make a historical cinematic masterpiece and will go down in the history as one of the greatest animated films.
